Our Present Mission Effort: Our Missionary To Ethiopia Brother Abebe Behailu

We are blessed to have a great man of God as our Liaison to the work in Ethiopia. Bro. Abebe Behailu has been responsible for training many hundreds of preachers in Ethiopia. These preachers have in turn led thousands to Christ.

Bro. Behailu is the Director of the Missionary Compound in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. There is a Church of Christ congregation, a School for the Deaf and a Preacher Training School all on this compound. Bro. Behailu divides his time between the ongoing work at the Compound and the United States where he is constantly fundraising and serving the Lord at the Holgate Church of Christ.

In June 2008, Bro. James A. Maxwell visited Ethiopia. There were 34 baptisms recorded during one week of preaching. Over 60 Preachers, Leaders and interested bible students were trained in a one week Training Seminar.

Since that time is has been reported that shortly after Bro. Maxwell’s visit 120 souls were baptized as a direct result of the Influence and teaching technique of Bro. Maxwell during his training class. As recently as 2009 it was reported that the work in all of Ethiopia is growing. Many are being added every month.

The Holgate church sends several thousands of dollars from its budget annually to the work in Ethiopia. Several from the Seattle area have also visited over the years. In the future we hope to send more.
